Impact & Outcomes

Statistics of Marillac's Hope Junior Program

During the 2012-2013 year:

  • 100% of children (65 children) attend grade school.
  • Hope Junior daily attendance averages 92%.
  • 100% of participants participated in a form of athletic activity.
  • 100% of participants attended field trips offered throughout the year.
  • 12 teen counselors worked with Hope Junior members and attended 6 leadership classes.
  • 90% of Hope Junior participants stated that they felt that the life skills groups helped them make more positive decisions in their lives.
  • Two young adult Hope Junior graduates, LaToya Winters and Deshon McKnight, are featured in the book “How Long Will I Cry? Voices of Youth Violence."
  • 100% of participants receive hot meal daily through the Greater Chicago Food Depository Kids' Café.

Statistics of Marillac's After School Matters Group

During the 2012-2013 year:

  • 100% of the After School Matters teens (30) are attending school regularly.
  • 100% of the After School Matters teens have self-reported that they are not involved in gang activity.
  • Marillac hosted two anti-violence rallies in fiscal year 2013 titled On the Streets of Chicago.” There were very powerful rallies in which teens presented poetry sharing their feelings and hope about the violence impacting them on a daily basis.
