Partners by Providence

The Daughters of Charity have been serving the Chicagoland since at least 1861. In recent years, they have seen a decline in vocations, but certainly not in their ability and desire to minister. By consolidating two of their ministries in Chicago, Marillac Social Center and St. Vincent de Paul Center, into the entity Marillac St. Vincent Family Services, the Daughters have been able to ensure that these institutions remain affiliated with their organization for many years to come. In 2002, Marillac Social Center and St. Vincent de Paul Center began to experiment with a merger; partners by providence. Their collaboration has proved fruitful and may well be a model for other types of nonprofit mergers in the future.
